Two day workshop coming up !

May 7th & 8th in The Meadowlands Hotel - Tralee

This post contains all the information you need for this two day workshop. There is a lot of information here so please read to the end. ESPECIALLY THE EVENT GUIDELINES

There will be two projects that you can choose from or you can work on one of your own projects.

Applique.

We have a small applique wall-hanging, if anyone wants to learn or practice machine or hand applique. This measures approx. 16 x 21 inches.

  • Fat eights or large scraps in colours, brown, beige, pink, mustard and yellow.
  • Background cream fabric measures 10 x 16 inches.
  • 2 Strips across the with of fabric measuring 2 1/2 inches wide for the binding.
  • Quarter of a metre of fusible webbing.
  • Thread to match (suitable thread for hand sewing if this is the method you choose)
  • Wadding and backing to fit

Summer vibes

48 x 55 inches

Make this Quilt to go using a quilt panel and some coordinating fabrics. This quilt that features summer scenes and cute camper vans folds up and fits into a bag. We have limited number of kits for this project at a special price of €50 so please let us know if you would like one held for you. If you have already booked one, we have yours already to bring.

If you have a panel with four sections on (I think they are supposed to be cushion panels) then add some coordinates and you can make a quilt to go.

Requirements

  • A panel split into four examples below
  • 5 Half Metres of coordinating fabrics
  • Wadding and backing to fit
  • Half a metre of binding

We have a few different panels that we will bring with us, but here is the panel in the kit

The actual panels are approx. 18 x 18 inches to give you an idea, in case you have a panel you want to use.

Another examples is with the over all size of the panel on the image.

The Event Guidelines.

We will start at 10 am Thursday morning , you are welcome to arrive at 9.45 to set up. We will finish the workshop at 5 pm on Friday 6th.

We will have some of the shop with us and set up during the two days.

Please read the following:

  • Please bring Sewing machine, sewing kit, cutter, ruler etc... ( don't forget your foot and power cord for your machine)
  • If you have a small dustpan and brush, please bring to tidy your station after sewing, also a bag to keep rubbish will be useful
  • Extension lead.
  • Snacks....don't forget the snacks.
  • Headphones if you wish to listen to music (This might sound odd, but if people play music while sewing there may be someone in the room with auditory sensory issues and are too embarrassed to say anything, this has happened before at a retreat so we recommend earphones to solve this issue)
  • Comfy clothes and we don't mind if you want to wear slippers for sewing, we want you all to be comfortable.
  • Please do not bring your own iron, there will be irons set up around the room for you to use. Irons draw on the electricity so we need to limit the amount that we have plugged in, so the sewing machines can be used efficiently.
  • Also no hot food in the room, as in cooked food. For example take away, dinners ordered from the restaurant. Snacks are ok.

See you soon.
