November is nearly here and I hope you are all packing your sewing bags full of projects to be completed. We actually cant wait for a fun filled week with you all..

Here is the run down

Please note: Pease do not bring your stuff into the room before the designated time for your retreat, for health and safety reasons.

GROUP 2  4 nights 5th- 9th November

What to expect~ you will be able to set up your sewing machine and leave it and your belongings out. The room will be open early in the morning until 11 pm (ish)

Between the hours of 10 am and 5pm there will be a teacher available in the room. Nikki, Sarah and Olly - They will help you with whatever project that you are working on.

This year we are bringing as much of the shop as possible-  but any requests for fabric etc...must be with us by Friday 31st October

What to bring? ( apart from your packed suitcase)

  • Sewing machine, sewing kit, cutter, ruler etc... ( don't forget your foot and power cord for your machine)
  • Projects to sew if your not doing the retreat project
  • If you have a small dustpan and brush, please bring to tidy your station after sewing, also a bag to keep rubbish will be useful
  • Extension lead.
  • Snacks....don't forget the snacks.
  • Headphones if you wish to listen to music (This might sound odd, but if people play music while sewing there may be someone in the room with auditory sensory issues and are too embarrassed to say anything, this has happened before at a retreat so we recommend earphones to solve this issue)
  • Comfy clothes and we don't mind if you want to wear slippers for sewing, we want you all to be comfortable.
  • Please do not bring your own iron, there will be irons set up around the room for you to use. Irons draw on the electricity so we need to limit the amount that we have plugged in, so the sewing machines can be used efficiently.
  • Also no hot food in the room, as in cooked food. For example take away, dinners ordered from the restaurant. Snacks are ok.

Just so you know, we will have some special offers on during the retreat and we will also be doing demos throughout.

Any questions?? send me a message on WhatsApp 0879924002  See you soon,

Nikki

The project..

Rainbow Glen

78x78 inches

Requirements for making this quilt:

3 ½ metres of background fabric—if you want you can use a selection of leftover whites and creams. If you are doing this you need a total of 72 squares measuring 8 ¼ x 8 ¼ inches.

The blocks are made from 12 colour groups. In each colour group there are 5 strips measuring 2½ x width of the fabric. The colours are as follows

Red-5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Yellow-5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Green -5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Light green - 5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Orange - 5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Magenta-5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Teal - 5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Turquoise-5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Blue-5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Purple-5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Lavender-5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

Pink-5  different strips  2½ x width of fabric

This is ideal if you have lots of strips from left over jelly rolls, You can also use fat quarters for this pattern but you will need to cut two strips off the long side from the each fat quarter and sew them together.

You can also change the colour groupings around or you could use a similar colour scheme throughout.

The total amount of 2½ x width of fabric strips you need to complete the quilt are 60.

There is no border on this quilt but you can add a border if you wish– you would need 30 inches to adda 3 inch border.

30 inches for the binding.
